They can't be dumb enough to not realize these things I'm saying, and other people are saying, but to acknowledge it is to legitimize it, which in a sense legitimizes their failure to innovate, to promote the best sort of music that can be made instead of just everything that's sent in as a demo.
But I can also understand why they don't like touching this topic. They're legit questions, and obviously a ton of people share the same sentiments. If you could remix one track off of “We Are All We Need,” which would it be? Whose a vocalist you’ve always wanted to write a track with but never got the chance? Do you think that this is a cyclical thing and that things will eventually circle back, or do you think that Trance is pretty much currently in it’s winter and it will kind of just fade away at some point? And on top of that, it’s lost those absolutely massive tracks that no matter which DJ you see, you know it’s getting played out. It’s lost a lot of the following, it failed to really capture the newer generation, it’s lost a ton of artists, many artists who would be producing trance chose electronica, IDM, dnb etc. I think that most people can agree that trance simply isn’t what it was 4 or 5 years ago. What’s your favorite track to play out that you just can’t play out anymore (in other words the crowds just don’t respond to it)?Īny burning desire to ever work with Justine again (sorry couldn’t help myself)? Any desire to slow down and focus on more quality? Somtimes there seems to be a quantity over quality thing happening on the armada family of labels. Do you have any desire to try to instill some originality & beauty back into the community and the artists signed with you? Over the years it’s lead to an incredibly monotonous sound that’s really shifted away from the beauty that trance has to offer. Instead of producing creative, engaging, driving music, most of them seemed to just copy what you were doing at the time and do their own variation of that. Here are the questions (some of them are a bit critical but please don’t let them diminish the respect & admiration I have for you):Ī while back, maybe 3 or 4 years ago, there was a huge shift in the way artists worked that were on your label(s) which pretty much compromises the entirety of trance nowadays. I’ve been closely following you and your label since Burned With Desire in 2004.
It’s a genre that doesn’t get a lot of love around the world which in turn has made into quite the incredible, tight-knit community, and you’ve done a lot to foster that. I wanna start off by thanking you for all you’ve done for Trance over your amazing career. Monthly Releases - please note that these are done fairly inconsistently due to low levels of activity!
